Fans of April Henry and Ward's other books will devour this one!

Published: 2019 Mila is in seventh grade. One day, she and her friends are having a little birthday celebration for one of them after lunch at school. They do a group hug, and then a few boys in their grade who were playing basketball join in without asking. Mila feels a little weird about it, but her friends kind of laugh it off. Then Mila notices that these boys are starting to make weird comments about her and touching her even though she doesn't want them to. They claim that she is their good luck charm because after they had the group hug, they won their basketball game. One day, one boy even says that it's his birthday so he wants a hug. She gives in (even though she doesn't really want to) but then she later finds out that it wasn't even his birthday. Even though Mila tells the boys to knock it off, they don't listen to her and everything gets worse and worse. She doesn't know who to turn to. Her mom is having her own problems at work, and her friends think she is just overreacting. She feels very overwhelmed and uncomfortable in her own skin. Mila doesn't even know what to call what is happening to her. It's more than bullying, but she doesn't know how to even explain it. When the boys go too far, Mila needs to figure out how to get help. Maybe He Just Likes You is an extremely relevant book that all young people should read. It talks about important things like consent and sexual harassment. Author: Megan Miranda
Published: 2019 Kennedy Jones is kind of famous for what happened to her family. There was a double homicide in her house. To keep her brother's search for life in outer space going, Kennedy has kind of taken on his hobby and has been looking at the readings on his radio telescope. She discovers a strange pattern one day that shouldn't be there. Nolan is well-known in his community because his older brother Liam disappeared after he left to go on a walk with the family dog two years ago, and no one knows where he is. Ever since his brother disappeared, he has gotten paranormal activity equipment, thinking he could detect his brother if he has passed away. Then he gets a strange pattern on his equipment coming from Liam's room one day. Kennedy and Nolan find their stories connecting, though they are not sure why. Come Find Me is a fantastic mystery. I loved the twists and turns in the book. It is very hard to surprise me, but I was really shocked reading this book multiple times! Very fun read for those who like thrillers. Author: Alan Gratz

This story follows several different young people who all play a different role in the events of what happened that day. Dee is a soldier for the United States. He is on one of the boats headed for Normandy in France to attack the Germans. He is keeping a secret about his true identity. James is a paratrooper, expected to jump out of a plane to help attack unsuspecting Germans. Samira works with her mother as a spy in France. When her mother is taken captive, Samira must come up with a way to save her life. Henry is a black medic in a time where many people are prejudiced against him for his race. He still must save as many lives as he can while still trying to survive himself. These stories all connect in Allies to show the many different roles people played on D-Day. He opens one book and an envelope falls out. Inside the envelope he discovers these strange scabs. After picking them up, one of them disintegrates in his hand. He later discovers that these were scabs from someone who had smallpox over 100 years ago that were kept by a scientist to study. Smallpox was a famous plague that killed 30% of its victims. It caused these terrible marks all over your body. Those who survived were often disfigured and blind. In 1980 the disease was officially not around anymore because the vaccine was created to keep people from getting it. Concerned that he is going to get smallpox, Mitty goes to the internet and anonymously posts something explaining what happened to him, hoping for some good answers. He is scared to tell his parents or see a doctor, worried that he is going to be the one person to bring back smallpox and cause a global panic. He doesn't realize just how much danger he is really is in. Code Orange is a good book for readers who like action and science! Author: Alex Sanchez

He starts to uncover more about his parents, and suddenly Theo begins to question everything he thought he knew about his family. Dive Smack is an absolutely fantastic suspenseful read full of twists and turns that will keep you hooked until the very end! |
