Published: 2019 Look Both Ways is a collection of ten different stories about different kids on their way home from school one day. One kid is home after standing up and doing the right thing, another is trying to make his sick mom feel better, another is planning how to get home without being attacked by a dog, another is a queen comedian and plans her after-school shows. These stories are all connected with one another, and it is so fun to reread the stories and find the connections you missed the first time around!

Published: 2014 Eat the Sky Drink the Ocean is probably one of my favorite books that I have read in 2017. It is a collection of feminist fantasy and science fiction short stories that revolve around the power that girls and boys have inside of them. The stories are each unique. Many are written in prose, but there are a few that are written in a graphic novel format. Each story explores something different that relates to being female and being human in society. The stories are written by Indian and Australian women who have collaborated to create these short stories. The stories range in topics from what it feels like to be cat-called on the street to the complete destruction of our environment and our resources to a cooking show that sends people travelling through time. This is definitely something different for readers to try. It would be good for readers who like graphic novels, and the short story format might be appealing to those who have a hard time finishing books. |
