Published: 2023 Jarrett is lucky enough to be chosen as one of the few people from his high school to get to go be a camp counselor at Camp Sunshine, a camp for kids who are very sick. His grandparents are worried it will be too depressing being around kids who are sick and even dying, but Jarrett is looking forward to this opportunity. When he gets there, he makes fast friends with the kids and the families attending the camp. Even though the kids all come there under different circumstances, they all are given a wonderful camp experience. During this first summer, Jarrett makes such great connections that he stays in touch with the families even after the camp. The experience was simply lifechanging. Sunshine is a bittersweet graphic memoir that will have you in tears. This was a wonderful follow-up to Krosoczka's Hey Kiddo.

Red Panda and Moon Bear are siblings who also happen to be super heroes who look for danger and evil and try to save their community. At the beginning of this graphic novel, Red Panda and Moon Bear discover two evil, alien monsters who have taken the form of Earth dogs. Oh wait, maybe they're just dogs who need a home. They try to solve many mysteries, including why children in their community are all having these terrible nightmares, why there is a ghost haunting the library, and many more mysteries that bring them on amazing adventures. When her fifth grade class has a variety show, all her friends form groups without her and they spend all their time practicing for their acts. Olive feels like she has been left behind. Then after a night with her Aunt Molly who had similar problems when she was younger, Olive has an idea for what she could do for the variety show. The laundromat is just squeaking by, but then a man starts spreading terrible rumors about the business. Wendell is a ghost who has come to the land of the living. He finds the laundromat and doesn't realize that by being there he is hurting the business even more. When it all becomes too much, Marjorie considers giving up. Then she meets Wendell. Sheets is an interesting story about a girl and a ghost whose stories collide. Author: Sarah W. Searle

Really she is staying home most of the time. Her parents both work, and it's summertime so she spends some time with Pearl, the woman who lives on the first floor of the house. Pearl tells Harriet about her family and Harriet wonders more about what happened on the third floor of the house. Then we find out why Harriet and her parents really moved to Chicago. Sincerey, Harriet is a graphic novel about a girl who is dealing with a lot of different issues. Very engaging! Author: Cathy G. Johnson

When she shows up she discovers that she is on the C team, the worst of the teams. The rest of the girls on the C team are all terrible at soccer and don't get along very well. His father used dark magic to keep him alive, and in order to keep him that way it's time for his father to repeat this magic. After a fight, Katia runs away from school and Victoria goes after her. They find themselves in great danger as these two stories collide. Graveyard Shakes is a graphic novel about being yourself and doing what is right. Very good for those who like spooky stories! When a mysterious suitcase falls out of a closet, Pri discovers a beautiful pashmina, a shawl, and when she puts it on she finds herself transported to India where everything is perfect and amazing. When Pri wins an art contest, she gets some money and she thinks that it might be her chance to convince her mom to take her to India. When she gets there, she discovers that it is not at all what she thought it was. Pashmina is a gorgeous graphic novel about family secrets. |
