The Counselors is a really great summer mystery that readers of Karen McManus will love!

Published: 2023 Jarrett is lucky enough to be chosen as one of the few people from his high school to get to go be a camp counselor at Camp Sunshine, a camp for kids who are very sick. His grandparents are worried it will be too depressing being around kids who are sick and even dying, but Jarrett is looking forward to this opportunity. When he gets there, he makes fast friends with the kids and the families attending the camp. Even though the kids all come there under different circumstances, they all are given a wonderful camp experience. During this first summer, Jarrett makes such great connections that he stays in touch with the families even after the camp. The experience was simply lifechanging. Sunshine is a bittersweet graphic memoir that will have you in tears. This was a wonderful follow-up to Krosoczka's Hey Kiddo. Author: Torrey Maldonado

When Nova wins, Tinsley is so mad she says that she should have killed her. Someone records her saying this and the video goes viral. The next day, Nova turns up dead, and Tinsley is the prime suspect. Tinsley swears she didn't touch Nova. Duchess, Nova's best friend is heartbroken but she doesn't think Tinsley did it either. Duchess knew that Nova was keeping secrets from her. While she doesn't like Tinsley, she finds herself working with her to figure out who really killed her best friend. She decides to write something in the paper in response. Her family starts receiving backlash, and her parents want her to stop writing letters in the paper. But May wants to stand up for what is right. The Silence That Binds Us is a story about racism and family and tragedy. It is about using your voice and standing up for what is right. Published: 2022 Caprice has just spent the summer at a really nice camp, and the best news is that she was offered a scholarship to attend school there for free. She is having a hard time figuring out if she should take it or not, especially because she doesn't want to ditch her best friend at home. Caprice has also been having a hard time lately because she keeps remembering way back when she was a little kid and she lived with her grandmother and her uncle and some bad things happened. This along with the stress of the possible changes in her life is causing her to have a lot of anxiety. Maybe it's time to speak the truth about what happened all those years ago. While there, he discovers that they have a chess club, and Lawrence is determined to learn how to play. He feels like he has found his place, but not everybody is happy that he is there. When he gets a chance to play in a chess tournament, Lawrence needs to work hard to make his spot without getting into anymore trouble along the way. She enlists Cora's help and the two work together to try to save their siblings. The Shape of Thunder is a heartbreaking story about a terrible tragedy and the people left behind. Trace feels like he needs to cover for his brother, but he also doesn't know if that's the right thing to do or not. He has a hard time with Aspen because he used to go there but faced extreme bullying due to his genderfluidity. While Mars identifies as a boy sometimes, sometimes she identifies as a girl. Mars is putting this behind her and trying to befriend the Honeys to find out more about Caroline. What Mars discovers changes absolutely everything. The Honeys is a super interesting horror mystery that has you turning the pages as fast as you can! |
