Published: 2021 The Ones We're Meant to Find takes place in the future where climate change and people have ruined our world. While some people do still live on the polluted land, there are eco-cities built up in the sky for people who have been known to help the planet to live in. These people are expected to spend a certain percentage of their lives virtually in order to reduce the amount of energy they are using. This story is told from two perspectives: Cee and Kasey's. Cee woke up on a completely abandoned island three years ago. She has no memory of her life before or how she ended up on the island. All she knows is that she has a sister somewhere and she must escape the island to try to find her. Every day she works on figuring out a way to leave the island. Kasey used to be a science genius, but ever since she got in trouble for doing something she wasn't supposed to, she is no longer allowed to practice science. She spends a lot of her time trying to find her sister. It has been months since Celia went missing. In her search for her sister, Kasey discovers secrets she was never meant to uncover about her family and the world. Published: 2020 In the year 2032, everyone in the United States has an identification chip under their skin that tracks everywhere they go. It is required. This way, all it takes is one scan for the government to figure out if someone belongs here or not. There are scanners everywhere. Vali and her family came from Colombia when she was a little girl because their lives were in danger. They are all undocumented, except for her little brother Ernie who was born in the United States. When the requirement came for everyone to get a chip, Vali and her mom found someone who was able to give them counterfeit ones. The problem is that the fake chips won't last forever. Lately Vali's mom's chip has been malfunctioning and making strange sounds. If an ICE agent heard that, she would be taken away. The President declares a state of emergency and deploys the United States Deportation Force to arrest and detain all "illegal aliens" and suddenly everything changes. There is a rumor that counterfeit chips won't work anymore. Vali and her family make plans to travel across the country to go to California, where her aunt lives. But when her mom's chip acts up, she is taken away and Vali must figure out the journey for her and her younger brother all on her own. Published: 2020 Luka is a prisoner in the Loop. The truth is he didn't commit the crime he is accused of, but that doesn't matter to anyone. He has to endure the torture called the harvest every single night. Every day is exactly the same, and there is no chance of escape. All inmates in the Loop are sentenced to death. They can choose to put off their death sentence if they agree to participate in something called a Delay. Delays are experiments performed on prisoners, and sometimes the outcome is deadly. They are all split up into 2 groups, A and B. Luka is in Group B. Group A goes first and the results of the experiment are absolutely horrifying. When it's Group B's turn, the results are very different. Suddenly after the Delay, the prisoners in the Loop discover that they have been abandoned. No one is coming to make sure they are fed and taken care of. They need to figure out how to escape in order to survive. But they also discover that leaving might be more dangerous than staying inside the Loop. The Loop is a fantastic science fiction thriller. Published: 2019 The island of Medio is split. The inner section is where the very wealthy live. The closer you get to the outer regions, the more poverty there is. The outer section is where the poorest of the poor live. There is a wall separating the inner section from the outer, and it is near impossible to cross over. Those who try may be killed, and it's worthless to cross over without identification papers proving you were born on the inner island. Wealthy men are given two wives--a Primera and a Segunda. Both play different roles. Primeras are partners who help her husband run the household; they are expected to show very little emotion. Segundas are there to bring the children and take care of them; they are able to display their emotions. Dani is a Primera and is assigned to be the wife of the most powerful young man in society. Dani has a secret. Her identification papers are forged. When she was very little, she and her parents lived on the outer island and crossed over illegally.
